Northwest Fine Woodworking presents “Aaron Levine - Tessellation ”

north west fine woorking - october

Opening to the public October 19th .

“My fascination with the interconnectedness of things and how we
perceive these relationships has led me to an exploration of
pattern.  The ‘tessellated’ surface is particularly intriguing to me
in its ability to fill space with both simplicity and complexity
simultaneously.  The recognition of of this duality (simple and
complex) coexisting gives rise to a very natural human joy and
wonder.  Pattern also has the power to communicate abstractly
powerful expression, to invoke a recursive perceptual process that is
mentally freeing and to simply delight.
Pattern ultimately is a reflection of the human mind and how it
perceives.  In the layering levels of pattern and information, I am
hoping to peel and recover the onion skin nature of our world.”
- Aaron Levine

Sacred Defcon Book

Enter the Eternal Order Of Defcon: Website TwoThousandSeven

defcon home

This year’s website was collaborative approach to brand management. We worked closely with a local branding company called Big Giant. Jason Miranda is a super talented designer and helped establish a theme for this year. We wanted to boost the coomunity influence of Defcon by styling the catalog to look and feel like an old scripture book for a mideavil secret society of snowboarders. The concept spanned across all levels of website development, from user interface to exclusive community backend. The pages were derrived from an actual book which gives this website a high sens of realism.

The community section has many awesome features including individual user profile pages, similar to Facebook and MySpace, as well as a User Interaction Award System which gives members rewards for interacting with the website including participating in secret operative events (regularly updated). They can then redeem their awarded credits for select items in a virtaul store featuring select limited edition Defcon products. - go ahead, purchase a pair these gloves and recieve your unique Membership ID - sign up today and earn your gear!
